Siltimur

Introduction:

Siltimur(Linera neesiana ) is a small deciduous tree, reaching up to 5 m. It is distributed in sub-tropical and temperate zones of central and eastern Nepal within altitudes of 1000m to 2600m. Leaves aromatic stalked, ovate, glabrous; flowers yellow, crowded in umbels; fruits aromatic, globose, fissured, 0.4cm in diameter. fruits are green when young, turns red when mature and finally turns blacks when dried. it flowers in October-November, fruits in March-June.

Uses:

The plant is the good source of sassafras which is aromatic, 

spicy and carminative. fruits are chewed in cases of diarrhea, toothache and nausea. The essential oil distilled from seed is applied for boils and scabies.
